RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships
Relationship is the state of being connected to a person, affectionately and intimately. But sometimes, they could be seeked by an individual for greater psychological reasons.
Before all, I would like to mention that the reason behind this post is to discuss why people truly want a relationship. Occasionally, I notice myself longing for a partner with that in mind. I wonder to myself, why do I wish you a relationship? What is the true reason behind it? Because those thoughts of committing to a long-term relationship cross my mind even when I don't have feelings for anyone at the moment.
Firstly, humans long for connection and belonging. Not only does being in a relationship could make amends for the loos of those two fundamentals, but it also reduces the feeling of loneliness and isolation. Besides, it fulfils the need for companionship and sense of being loved and seen.
Secondly, a healthy committed relationship provides a safe space to speak of fears and interests, and it allows for vulnerability to be evident without feeling threatened of being hurt . Along with relying on someone when needed.
Thirdly, the fear of being alone can be the main motive for being in a relationship , a whole companionship could be built on insecurities rather than true love.
To sum up everything I have said, and add other things that weren't said. The reasons to be in a relationship are multifaceted and involve desires, psychological needs, social pressure, and social influence. However, you should always be aware that a relationship is not built on the shortcomings of one person and expecting the other person to make up for that shortcoming. You must be a complete, rational, and psychologically healthy person, and not have any hidden reasons for entering the relationship. Because those hidden reasons are always a insecurities that could lead to harm you partner.
